The Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Assessment Process

Our assessment team utilizes a variety of tools, questions, and activities to assess your child's strengths and abilities. Each assessment is tailored to your child's unique needs.

1

Getting Started

The process begins with a referral from a GP, paediatrician, or even you as parents. No referral is required to book, however, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate with a doctor's referral.

2

Information Gathering

The assessment team gathers information, reviews your family history, and observes your child. A variety of assessment tools and checklists are used.

3

Formal Diagnosis

A formal diagnosis is made, outlining specific details of your child's autism spectrum disorder.

4

Personalised Support Plan

With a formal diagnosis, you can get a personalised support plan to unlock your child's full potential.

5

Ongoing Support

Our therapists provide ongoing therapy and support parents to provide care at home.

Support for Autism Spectrum Disorders

If your child receives a formal ASD diagnosis, you can access support immediately. Our dedicated early intervention therapy is delivered by a multidisciplinary team of professionals:

Speech Pathologists

Occupational Therapists

Psychologists

ESDM Therapists

Our detailed reports can be used to support funding applications, including those through the NDIS, giving you the resources you need.

Referrals and Rebates

Did you know that autism assessments may attract a rebate from Medicare?

Eligible Referral

With an eligible referral for Complex Neurodevelopmental Disorder and eligible disabilities (from a paediatrician or psychiatrist—not a GP), you may attract a rebate.

Rebate Details

This rebate may cover up to four of the assessment sessions with the psychologist and/or speech pathologist.

Rebate Amount

The rebate amount is generally $96 per referred session (check with Medicare for exact amounts and safety net thresholds).
